What Leadership Means to me
My idea of leadership is being able to inspire others, galvanize, motivate, set a vision, communicate, respect others, and of course, lead by example. A leader must have an honest understanding of who he/she is, what he/she knows, and what he/she is capable of.
To be a successful leader, you have to be able to convince your followers, not just yourself or your superiors, that you are worthy of being followed. In my opinion, this can build confidence in their followers to have faith in you, in order to be able to lead.
To become an effective leader one needs to have the desire and willpower. Leadership is an ongoing process as leader keeps developing himself/herself through a never ending process of self-study, education, training, and experience.
Leader has to have the courage to bring passion to practice and execute his ideas with love and interest. I feel that person who doesn’t develop trust and connection with people fails to be leader. Leader does not use other people as means to accomplish his/her goals, if he/she does that will limit his/her ability to influence in the long run.
Leadership to me, means the ability to attain four things: social intelligence, initiative, setting a good example, and inspiration. These do not come naturally, but are acquired through continual work and study. A truly great leader is continually working and studying to improve their leadership skills.
Leadership means ability to adapt to different situations, be creative since doing something unconventionally requires taking risks, to be prepared for failure, and learn from it.
There are many leaders in world but very few have people trust which inhibits their ability to influence people.
